The Flash Possible DCEU Reboot

The Flash producer who is sister to the director, Barbara Muschietti, suggests the movie may reboot aspects of the current DCEU.

“Well, I want you to go see it, so I’m not going to tell you a lot. But what I will tell you that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And, in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything,” Barbara Muschietti cryptically revealed during the DC FanDome panel for The Flash.”

The Flash movie directed by Andrés Muschietti will feature the return of the Michael Keaton Batman as well as Ben Affleck as Batman. Barbara revealed that Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will serve as the link between the timelines and multiverse dimensions.

NEW SUIT

This movie could be a game-changer for DC Films with the new revitalized energy for the release of the Snyder Cut Justice League movie next year and the acceptance of the multiverse as a movie vehicle for a greater variety of stories. This opens the door to allow movie makers and directors to remake the DC Universe to be in sync with the source material and please fans.

Walter Hamada the head of DC Films shared in the DC Fandom “Multiverse 101” panel that the primary continuity will be comprised of the main heroes like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, and Ezra Miller’s Flash. This creative playground provides room for a universe with Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Walter Hamada even went as far as to refer to Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight as a “Year Two Batman.” He even made it a point to say that Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is also a part of this multiverse.

Walter Hamada, along with DC Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee and Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti, explained that this multiverse approach will help to create variety within the large franchise. It will also help to keep order within timelines, as creative moviemakers are free to make a good movie not concerned with interfering with others’ work.

So the DC Universe does not have to mimic Marvel Films to have success they just can be a variety of films and TV shows that occasionally have crossovers to make it interesting. It will be fascinating to see how things play out moving forward. Looks like the age of DC Fandome is here to stay.
